If I were to be 100% honest with you, I'm about half a bottle into this Layer Cake Shiraz and I don't care what you think about it.

In fact, I'm not writing for you, I'm writing for me. How about them grapes?

Ok, well I'm writing for you too.

After all, helping other people create a lifestyle where “I do what I want!” gets me off.

whatevah i do what i want

I'm interviewing my good friend Casey Ayers tomorrow morning [edit: In 2.5 hours….D'oh!] for the “interviews with inspiring dudes and chicks” video interview series and I had a lot of loose ends to tie up this evening.
The WIFI where I live is slow as hell and I called up a relative to see if I could come out there to use his solid WIFI connection to finish up my ish.

He said “OK.”
But then as I was heading to the subway station I got this feeling like…

Every time I go over there all he does is:

– Cut me down

– Try to push my buttons to no productive end

– Share his “words of wisdom” with me uninvited because he has “life experience” and I'm just some naive punk who hasn't gotten the real world punch in the teeth yet.
Fuck that.

I'll listen to SUCCESSFUL people about how to be successful, thank you very much.

So I called him, said “I'm not coming.” and just went to Starbucks for a couple of hours instead.

With that seemingly infinitesimal decision came a powerful feeling of liberation and then it hit me – what this whole “Lifestyle Design” thing is about:

It's about LIVING LIFE ON YOUR OWN TERMS.

It's a lot like how Eminem, or Nas, or Biggie, or any of the countless rappers who came out of slums and fucked up childhoods to become high quality artists, poets, musicians, designers and businessmen all rolled into one, not unlike a fat spliff.

That's why I love hip-hop.

It says “Fuck it! This is me, this is how I feel, this is what I'm gonna do and I'll die before any god damn body gets in my way.”

Ayn Rand wrote the PG version: “The question isn't who's going to let me, but who's going to stop me.”

Hmm… ring a bell? “Give me liberty or give me death!”

So I live in this residential hotel in San Francisco and it's incredibly cheap but crawling with some seriously fucked up weirdos.

We can get into the whole “what constitutes normal?” debate here but let me just tell you something, and those of you who know me KNOW this is really saying something coming from my weird ass, THESE PEOPLE ARE FUCKING WEIRD:

Trannies in every shape and size, crackheads (found a crackpipe in my room the other day), schizos yelling their head off, and a guy who loves to sing Lady Gaga falsetto-style at the top of his lungs on weekends.

But you know what, I wouldn't change a thing about it. Shit, maybe I'll even buy some doja from the guy next door who always wears sunglasses.

Why am I abusing you, dear reader, in this fashion?

To prove a point.

Stop trying be all things to all people and just put yourself out there.

We're human beings, not avatars.

When's the last time you said what was REALLY on your mind even 20% of the time?
With the way things are going, you don't even have to answer to a boss anymore if you don't want to.

You can start a blog and air your incensed opinings and rub it in spell-check's stupid face.

AND

Make money in the process.

Incidentally, Tucker Max did a guest post on Tim Ferriss' blog tonight just as I was patting myself on the back for my daring, laissez-faire approach to blogging.

I, my friends, am but a young grasshopper in the art of don't-give-a-fuckery.

If you're not in the know, familiarize yourself with the patented Tucker Max “Tucker Tries Buttsex; Hilarity does not ensue” Story. It will make you laugh, it will make you cry and as Tim Ferriss put it, you will lose a piece of your soul in reading.

I'm not suggesting you insult everybody and act like a big jerk but I AM saying that people know when you're walking on eggshells, whether in print or in the flesh.

And that's an insult to the intelligence of anyone reading or listening to your commentary and a reminder of life in the matrix.

Great photo thanks to @AndYaDontStop;

As a last note, this rather out-of-nowhere blog post is a watershed moment in the evolution of this blog.

Lately I've been connecting with important bloggers and generally immersing myself in the blogosphere and there are people out there (some, very young!) writing very high quality posts consistently.

In an attempt to bring the highest value possible to my readers, I will be lessening the focus on me, as such, and begin posting more researched, inspiring (How To Run Your Business From Anywhere), useful (The Definitive Guide To Living In Your Car), thought-provoking (Bucket List) and actionable information (i.e. less ranting and self-indulgent albeit slightly amusing drivel!) – designed to IMPROVE LIVES and bring people closer to the mindsets and lifestyles of their dreams.

That said, it feels good to meander and find my voice and I thank you for coming along for the ride.

Now it's time to begin paying it forward to my heroes and readers in a big way.

Good, good vibes to you all.

Adieu.
