Avoid using DAP + Mandrill SMTP + Aweber
If you're using Mandrill SMTP in conjunction with Digital Access Pass and you also integrate your DAP products with Aweber, you're going to find that members aren't getting added to your Aweber lists.
That's because Aweber sees a mismatch between your mail server (Mandrill) and your hosting server (Bluehost, HostGator, GoDaddy, whatever the case may be).
All of my attempts to reconcile this issue failed, including dozens of emails with Aweber support staff.
Even if you set up the SPF record, rDNS, non-support type email, whitelist your domain, set the DAP email parser in Aweber, etc., etc., none of these settings will work because the fundamental issue is a mismatch between the IP address of the mail server and hosting server, which means Aweber won't parse the 3rd party notification from DAP.
I'm not sure if this would be the case using Amazon SES or Auth SMTP, but I imagine it would be the same result.
If anybody has found some kind of workaround for this, I (we) would love to hear it.
